If You Kill A Coyote, Three More Show Up To The Funeral
A little nature lesson for all those that don’t know. Arizonans, and now everyone across the nation, have come to recognize that coyotes roam widely. These creatures inhabit deserts, roam across plains, prowl near oceans, and even navigate cityscapes. They claim territories in every state except Hawaii and have ventured as far south as Central America.
Why have they expanded their territory so much? What was the motivation?
We kept trying to kill them.
Hunters relentlessly pursue and kill coyotes, with an annual toll of at least 400,000. Yet, these resilient animals have mastered the art of survival and continue to thrive. At night, their howls pierce the silence, serving as a roll call for the pack. When they detect a decline in their numbers, they instinctively breed larger litters and accelerate their offspring’s growth. Despite exhaustive efforts to eliminate them, you cannot get rid of the Coyotes.
This Is The Place?
As per a report on Friday, the Arizona Coyotes will be relocating to Salt Lake City after the end of the season.
They will play at Delta Center until Utah Jazz owner Ryan Smith completes the construction of a new arena paid for with $1 billion of taxpayer money approved by in February.
Howlin’ For You
In Arizona, we sympathized with teams like the Atlanta Thrashers, the Oakland A’s, and the Seattle SuperSonics. It was easy to understand the agony of their fans because we could only imagine the pain of losing a team we cherish deeply.
But now our worst fears have turned into sudden shock and suffering.
So many fans have expressed their frustrations and feelings of loss on social media. It is important to see how Coyotes’ fans truly felt about this team.
If you haven’t had the chance to see the impact that the Arizona Coyotes’ organization has had on its fans, check out this Twitter thread on the PHNX Coyotes account where hundreds upon hundreds of fans have shared their best memories of the team.
This impacts Coyotes fans and the staff alike. Whether they’re newcomers or veterans of 27 years, not all can relocate to Salt Lake City with the team. They’ll face job losses, and that alone is a solid reason to grieve the team’s departure.
Forechecking Our Future
Hockey lives on in the desert through Arizona State and the Tucson Roadrunners (for now), but they can’t fill the void left by our Kachina Coyote. Promises of the NHL’s comeback to Arizona have been made, yet we remain skeptical, especially since the current owner, Alex Meruelo, is on the receiving end of those promises. The continuous mismanagement by various owners has left a lasting mark on this franchise. Right now, the thought of the Coyotes returning to Arizona feels like a distant dream.
But remember what happens when you kill The Coyotes?
