The Phoenix Suns was one of the busiest teams in the off season. One of the many things that the Suns did was bring back Bol Bol on a 1 year minimum. Was this a good idea? Maybe, maybe not. Is Bol just a side attraction at a circus or does he actually have skill to warrant being on a NBA team especially the suns?

Bols defence was very problematic. Bol was not good on the perimeter often getting passed by smaller guys. Bol would be pushed around into spots from opposition because of his slender frame of 220 pounds. With that said Bol does have speed and was a good team defence coming over and blocking a shot or altering the shot. Bol will need to work hard if he is to get rotational minutes with the suns.

Now let’s talk the strength of Bol his offence. Bol was a mismatch on offence able to shoot over smaller guys and be too quick for bigger guys. Last season Bol’s splits were 61,79,42. Bol also was able to show he could get his own shot not relying on others. Also was able to finish through contact. Just because he showed strength on offence will this be enough to crack the rotation?

Bol played last season 43 games at just under 11 minutes a game. Bol also provided one of the greatest highlights by a Suns player last year. When Bol went coast to coast and finished with a euro step dunk. A great friend of mine Sir Hammo said it best. What in the Daffy Duck was that. Simple put what does Bol have in his bag of tricks he hasn’t shown us yet.

Back to the original question. Was bringing back Bol a good idea. For me the answer is a definite yes. Last season Bol had coach Vogel. He wasn’t a great fit not just for Bol however for the team. It was like trying to push a square peg into a round hole. It was like having a 1969 Chevy Camaro but not having the driver to drive it. With 2-time coach of the year coach Budenholzer he understands better this is a team for speed.

Also realise Bol is very close with coach Fizdale and no doubt will help him with his defences. Also, Bol’s mentor Kevin Durant will help Bol once he has a rest after his Olympic duties. Yes, a big yes Bol should be in the rotation and it was smart to bring him back. Lets wait and see more Daffy Duck the 2024/2025 season.
