Damion Lee, the Phoenix Suns guard, opted out and resigned with the Phoenix Suns on a 1-year deal. You may ask why this is unusual? Usually, when a player opts out of a deal in their favour, i.e.,player option. It is for more money over time and longer years. In this case, this was neither.

        Damion was going to earn 2.8 million. However, Damion opted to sign for 700 thousand less. To help the Phoenix Suns with the second apron.  However, it doesn’t help the Suns that much. Damions’ reason for doing this is anyone’s guess.

     Why did the Phoenix Suns bring back a player who missed all of last season to injury? The answer to that question is that Damion is an exceptional shooter. Damion last NBA season Damion shot 44.5% from 3. Damion was third in the NBA that season. Coach Budenhozer has repeatedly said that the Phoenix Suns will shoot more threes this season. This is good for the Phoenix Suns as they have a 3-point specialist on a very affordable contract. That the Suns can bring off the bench and help space the team with Damion shooting.

       What else does Damion  bring to the Phoenix Suns? Not much else. Damion is one for a few on the Suns roster that has won an NBA championship. Damion’s defensive rating is 116 the last time he played, which is the league average. Damion isn’t a strong passer or getting rebounds. With that said, Damion will fill an important role with the Phoenix Suns next season.
